pumping station saves water
Sean Englund, Ranch Manager at Loma Vista Farm in Scottsdale, Arizona, tells us Loma Vista takes pride in its recycling efforts:
Recycle and reclaim the water used to wash the horses. All wash racks in the main barn are connected to a 6,000 gallon cistern.
Reclaim the rain water that sheds off of the roof of the covered arena/stalls. Most of the water that sheds off the roof (over an acre of surface area) is piped into the cistern.
The water in the cistern is pumped into a water truck and used to water the grounds and outdoor arenas
Use EZall products in the wash racks. EZall is a bio-friendly product. Therefore, the water in the cistern is bio-friendly.
Use recycled wood products in the form of wood grindings/shavings for bedding in the stalls.
Recycle all stall cleanings into nursery grade mulch.
Use Sofscape Pavers in the main barn aisle way. Sofscape Pavers are made from 100% recycled Tire rubber.
Rubber mats used in the stall floors are made of 100% recycled tire rubber.
Used recycled timber beams in the construction of the main barn which came from telephone poles removed from historic route 66.
Use organic methods of fly control in the mare barn. (Fly Predators from Arbico Organics)
Utilize recycled telephone poles sliced into planks for corral fencing.
