My horse had soles that would flex under thumb pressure - he appeared sound in shoes, but the foot health was deteriorating every year., Once taking the shoes off, padding and booting where needed for comfort, and never missing a days work due to being shoefree, after some years he developed an abcess - and the soles were well over half an inch thick!. Maybe more at the toe callous. Yes thin soles can be fixed!. Nothing magic, just diet, conditioning, bootng where needed and good trimming.

thin soles question

what things while your horse was barefoot can I do to protect his thin soles. His paddock is wet a lot, he does have a dry sand lean but most of the rest of the paddock is wet often. Any luck with topical hoof hardeners? suggest a type of boot? supplement? thanks for any advice
