Effective February 7, 2012, Tallgrass Animal Acupressure Institute courses meet a portion of Washington State’s animal massage requirements for hours and areas of instruction. For instance, participants in the Tui Na Course (original Chinese meridian massage) in July 2012 can apply 30 hours toward their required hours for equine and canine Certification in Washington State. (Note: the Tui Na Course is also approved for CEs with NCBTMB).
Other Tallgrass courses meeting the Washington State requirements include Hands-On Health & Pathology for a total of 28 hours, Business Practice Course for 10 hours and Acupoint Energetics & Landmark Anatomy for 15 hours. These courses have received rigorous review by the Board of Health of Washington State. For further details regarding the apportionment of hours, please contact: Tallgrass@animalacupressure.com
Nancy Zidonis, Co-Founder of Tallgrass, comments: “We applaud Washington State for their extraordinary efforts in setting high standards and specific requirements for animal massage practitioners to become certified and able to practice in their state. We hope this is a model for the rest of the nation. The public needs to be able to trust that their animals receive only qualified massage services.”
Additionally, Washington State has adopted the National Board of Certification for Animal Acupressure & Massage examinations as their standard examination for certification. Review Courses for the equine and canine acupressure and massage examinations are being developed and will be available by the middle of spring 2012. Practitioners and students wishing to meet and uphold the highest professional standards of practice are encouraged to become members of NBCAAM.
