The World Equine Veterinary Association (WEVA) recently announced the addition of Kentucky Equine Research (KER) as an educational partner.
WEVA is an organization of equine veterinary associations. Founded in 1985 under the auspices of the World Veterinary Association (WVA), the group’s first educational meeting was held in 1987 in Montreal, Canada. WEVA became a standalone group in 1997, and since 2001 has increased its focus on goodwill efforts to provide continuing education (CE) worldwide.
WEVA’s mission is “to advance the health and welfare of horses worldwide by promoting and offering quality continuing education for equine practitioners, specifically in countries with limited access to high-quality, broad-based professional education."
The two primary goals of WEVA are to host a biennial Congress in association with a member association and to conduct other meetings when requested by a member association and approved by the WEVA board.
Gary Norwood, DVM, current senior vice president of WEVA and a former president of that group as well as the American Association of Equine Practitioners, says, “The WEVA board has approved KER as a new educational partner. With its team of nutritional specialists around the world, KER will be able to assist WEVA with CE for our member associations. Some of these CE opportunities will be accessible through the WEVA website.”
Kentucky Equine Research is an international equine nutrition and exercise physiology research, consultation, and product development company. By providing a variety of products and services to horse owners, equine industry professionals, and the feed industry, KER strives to advance the industry’s knowledge of equine nutrition and exercise physiology and apply this knowledge to produce healthier, more athletic horses of all ages.
