Sonoma, CA – November 25, 2013. As Ice Horse™, the leading manufacturer of cold therapy treatments for horses, celebrates the official release of its new hi-tech product designs, a member of Thoroughbred Charities of America, CANTER, became an unexpected beneficiary.
While Ice Horse™ transitioned to new product designs and materials that utilize state-of-the-art technology, management realized a few dealers still had old merchandise on their shelves. “Since the older product models were totally functional, I decided to see if CANTER would be interested in picking up the old products,” says Julie Garella, the company’s owner.
Ali Dasher of CANTER California responded immediately: “Wow! I love your products. That would be so amazing. 75% of our horses have leg injuries; mostly tendons, ligaments and fractures, coming into our program. The Ice Horse™ products would be so helpful. Beats cold hosing!”
Ice Horse™ products have always enjoyed a good reputation with horse owners and trainers. The new design elements mark the company’s foray into the veterinary and equine orthopedic markets. “Everyone understands a cold sack of peas on a sore area,” says Garella. “Our products simply make the application of cold on horses easy and cost effective.”
Dr. Mark Revenaugh of Northwest Equine Performance and veterinarian for the United States Equestrian Team agrees. “Cold therapy is oftentimes the best treatment for sport horse injuries. Standing your horse in a snow bank or an ice-cold stream is optimal, but those options are not always practical. I’ve found Ice Horse to be a great option: it’s easy to use, practical, and highly effective.”
