LAMBERTVILLE, NJ – Nov. 1, 2015—Dr. Maria Katsamanis presents the short film—Equestre Molecular —at the EQUUS Film Festival, featuring film, fine arts and literature about horses, November 20-21, at the Village East Cinema (home to the Tribeca Film Festival) in New York City.
In her film Ecuestre Molecular, Katsamanis, a horse trainer and clinical psychologist, shares timeless techniques—Molecular Equitation—that creates a union between a horse and rider where they bond on a molecular level. The ideal relationship is where a horse and its rider are mentally and physically comfortable with each other. Classical horsemanship is less of a riding lesson, but a life lesson, about creating a unique union known only to the horse and its rider.
Ecuestre Molecular (Molecular Equitation) was filmed in Cataluna, Spain during a 3 day clinic and includes a rare sitdown question/answer session with Dr. Katsamanis. Molecular Equitation is the science and art between a horse and its rider as the two units become one. Katsamanis discusses this in her book, The Alchemy of Lightness, which she co-authored and provides an overview of the philosophy in the short film, Ecuestre Molecular. Katsamanis throws out the cookie-cutter horse riding lessons for a solid foundation based on a long-term relationship with a horse.
“Our two species, horses and humans, share a connection that pre-dates gadgets or formulas,” says Katsamanis. “We delve into the science of molecular equitation to harness the ultimate connection between horse and human.”
Also, Katsamanis will be part of an Authors panel at the VIP event hosted by the Manhattan Saddlery in New York City, November 19. There she will be available for book signing at the festival and will answer questions about her unique methods.
