Passion Flower
Actions: Sedative, hypnotic, antispasmodic, anodyne
Passion flower has a history as a nervine and sedative to combat excessive nervousness and anxiety. Because of its antispasmodic actions, it is used for muscle spasms, seizures, hysteria. It is considered very effective in nerve pain such as neuralgia. It seems to have similar effects as Robaxin, wherein it acts as a depressant to motor side of spinal cord, without the unwanted side effects. Passion flower appears to be completely free of toxicity and side effects and has been approved by the FDA for food use.
