Do you seriously believe that riding is the only exercise program you need? Are you tired of running to the gym three times a week? Perhaps you're like me - you still have that "Thigh Buster" Suzanne Summers was selling on TV. Well, pull up a chair and read Fit to Ride, by Mary Bromiley. This book is filled with simple exercises for all riders, beginners through advanced, that you can do seated or standing.
This book is filled with simple exercises for all riders, beginners through advanced, that you can do seated or standing. Mary is a horsewoman as well as an acclaimed human and equine physiotherapist. She knows that time is limited for horse people, yet she has seen first hand the damage that can happen when the rider or horse is unfit. Fit to Ride is an easy to read volume that capsulizes an athletic training program for you and your horse. Mary has coached professional and amateur riders from the Gold Medal New Zealand Three Day team to Jump Jockeys. Her training suggestions are based on methods used by the European Riding Schools. These basic training methods for horse and rider cross over into all of the riding disciplines. Mary combines years of experience and knowledge of physiology and anatomy of both man and horse to explain how and why proper exercise for each is important.
Anyone serious about riding should read Fit to Ride. The exercises are easy to do yet very effective. I have a lot of respect for Mary and read every book she writes. I think you'll get a lot out of this one. It's one to keep on the shelf as a reference tool.
Fit to Ride is available through Blackwell Science Inc., 2 Commerce Place, 350 Main Street, Malden, MA 02148.
