Horses4Heroes is transforming its flagship facility, the Horses4Heroes Community Equestrian Center, located within Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs, into Cowboy Town for the event. The fun starts at 7:30 am with a Cowboy Pancake Breakfast, sponsored by Anderson Dairy and local Boy Scout Troop 340. Cowboy Town opens at 8 am with panning for gold, a bounce house, and the opportunity to dress, cook, sleep, work, play, ride and shop like a cowboy! Activities include horse shoes, dummy roping, tractor races for kids, face painting, a barnyard with farm animals and horseback riding. Participants will have the opportunity to make homemade butter to enjoy with their pancakes, and check out the latest family mini-van from Findlay Honda.
Admission to Horses4Heroes' Cowboy Town includes breakfast and one horseback ride. Pre-purchase before July 21 and save. Fees are $10 per person or $30 for a family (up to five). Each additional person in a family is $5 per person. Day of the event, the family wristband is $40 and $5 for each additional person. Wristbands can be pre-purchased at www.paintedponies.com. Park admission is not included and is $6 per car. Park admission is free with Military ID.
The Horses4Heroes Community Equestrian Center is located within Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs, 9200 Tule Springs Road (park entrance is off Brent and Durango).
The open house also is a "Meet-a-Horse" event and participation counts in the American Horse Council's Time to Ride 100-Day Challenge. Horses4Heroes was the 2014 champion and is in the lead to win it this year. Horses4Heroes is encouraging locals and visitors to discover horses this summer and attend events like the Cowboy open house to support the non-profit in its quest to repeat as champion in 2016.
"Introducing new people to horses is what we do best," said Sydney Knott, president and founder of Las Vegas-based Horses4Heroes. "We have built a national organization, and our reputation, on introducing people to horses, especially service members, veterans, First Responders, school teachers and nurses and their families."
Since 2012, when Horses4Heroes launched Operation Free Ride for returning combat veterans, more than 20,000 men, women and children have discovered horses, horseback riding and the healing power of horses.
