Michael Jung (GER) and La Biosthetique-Sam cleared the Alltech jump and claimed the individual gold medal
With seeming ease, Michael Jung (GER) on La Biosthetique-Sam secured his individual gold medal in Sunday’s final show-jumping phase of the Eventing World Championships presented by Reem Acra. Despite Jung’s stellar performance, the German team did not make the podium. Instead it was Great Britain at the top for gold.
The day was particularly momentous for the silver medal Canadian team, having not won a World Championships since the 1978 World Championships at the Kentucky Horse Park. New Zealand took the bronze, pushing the United States out of medal contention.
William Fox-Pitt (GBR) also kept his second place position and found individual silver on Cool Mountain while Andrew Nicholson (NZL) took hold of bronze on Nereo.
Rebecca Holder (USA) who had been in third place on Courageous Comet following Saturday’s cross-country withdrew in the holding box after the third horse inspection.
