To Linda (from Shari HHH): It would be inappropriate for me to prescribe anything, as that is the job
of your veterinarian; although given your vets latest diagnosis of CANCER
or FUNGUS I am compelled to share further information with you.
Protease is an enzyme that dissolves almost all proteins as long as they're not part of normal living cells. What is important to know is that protease (when taken away from food- meaning not taken with your horses feed); protease is absorbed intact- into the bloodstream- even passing the gut & surviving stomach acid. In the blood the protease binds with A2M (simply a component of the immune system called alpha-2
macroglobulin). This A2M wraps around the protease & "protects it" so it can do its job without being destroyed first. The A2M actually takes the protease to the area of the body that is under attack. Areas under attack are easily identified as: DEAD, DAMAGED, or DO NOT BELONG! Let's refer to these as the 3 D's. (Protease can not digest EVERY protein, but ALMOST ALL proteins as long as they're not a component of normal living cells.
This is good because we would not want to alter normal cells).
For clarification you should know that there are 3 types of proteolytic enzymes: 1) animal glandulars, 2) tropical or plant based (like from papaya & pineapple) & 3) Microbial-Fungal-Bacterial- Plant based. My favorite is the later group (#3)- they are grown on soy, wheat, barley or on aspergillus. This group works in a much broader pH-which is important so they can survive & get where they need to go & still be active to do their job!
This is not new information, in fact work with enzymes dated as far back as 1783; there is even a reference to enzyme use in the Bible (2 Kings-use figs for boils. Figs contain the enzyme ficin!) There is a lot of information available on enzymes & a whopping $50 million+ has been spent on protease alone. It's the most researched enzyme!
Virtually everything that makes us (or our animals) sick has a protein matrix. A matrix is just something within or from which something else originates. This is a KEY POINT in your stallion's case... CANCER & FUNGUS are made up of protein! Cancer is protected by protein & the nucleus (like the core or center) of fungus is protein. Notice the "protein connection"? Furthermore virus, bacteria, parasites, blood clots & heavy metal toxins ALL HAVE A CONNECTION TO PROTEIN!!!!!!!!!!
If your following me here- you will understand the importance of proteases (enzymes that digest protein) to KEEP THE PROTEIN (remember those 3 D's-those that are dead, damaged, or do not belong) FROM SURVIVING OR REPRODUCING!
In a healthy body, proteolytic enzymes naturally break down fibrin, the barrier around cancer that keeps the body from detecting it. Once the fibrin is broken down the body recognizes it as the 3 D's & goes after it to DESTROY it. The greater the protease in the body the greater the chances to detect the CANCER (& all of the 3 D's) & destroy them.
Here's some more VERY IMPORTANT information. 80% of our bodily enzymes are used for digestion. That only leaves 20% for immune support etc! Also 13% of our enzymes are USED UP EVERY DECADE!!!!!!!! That is huge. Think of your stallion-at 30- he has much fewer enzymes to protect him than when he was younger and...unless you've been feeding him ALL RAW foods his enzymes were diverted to digest those
pressed pellets & other feed sources whose production process DESTROYED whatever enzymes were there in the first place.
In other words enzymes are really important to health & your stallion needs them (particularly protease) to fight off this (& any other) disease.
If I've sparked your desire to act on anything I've shared, I encourage you to call 1-888-918-1118, a company called Enzymedica. Ask for the tech department (Dave if he's there) & have him confirm anything you don't understand. They are enzyme experts & very dedicated to sharing factual information.
If it were my horse, given your latest vet diagnosis I would give him VIRASTOP (away from his feed) 3-4 times a day if you can. Since its not that easy to get pills down a horse (unless hidden in the feed) I would take aloe gel & open the caps & feed it to him or open the cap in a syringe of water or aloe juice & squirt it down his throat. It must be
consumed- it's not for topical use & if it rolls out of his mouth its wasted-so tilt his head back-or make him swallow. Once in liquid it will be spoiled if not consumed so don't make it up in advance.
At his age (& obvious diminished enzyme levels) I would (& do with "my" horses almost daily) give a DIGEST GOLD enzyme support in the feed to help with digestion!!!!! This will help him maintain his own enzymes for immune boosting instead of digestion. Remember that 80% for digestion????? With DIGEST GOLD (doing the work of digestion) that 80% now gets to focus on fighting off the CANCER/FUNGUS...3 D's.
All of my horses naturally eat a capsule in with their feed-without spitting it out.
I do so hope I have helped you fully understand what I was trying to convey.
Best of luck & good health to you & your stallion!
Shari Frederick
