Hi Joy,
I am adopting a beautiful palomino gelding named Sundance (senior). Anything I can do to help him age gracefully and naturally? He sometimes is a little “heavy”... I feel an amazing connection to this horse....

Gina,
Thank you for your inquiry. Sundance thinks the best thing you can do for him is to love him. He also feels the connection you mention. I’m assuming that since you came to me through Holistic Horse, you are familiar with many of the more natural horse things. He doesn’t think he’s “heavy.” He would love to have you share your life with him by talking to him about everything. To him, the way to help him “age gracefully” is to do the things that are common sense to a horse – being outside as much as possible (ideally all the time), grass and hay, fresh air and water, and movement. He feels like he hasn’t always had as much movement as he needs.
He also likes the idea of stretching and massage. He tells me he likes smells, so using essential oils for him would be a good move. If you don’t know a person who knows about essential oils in your area, try Russell Louie’s website, OptimumChoices.com
If you would like to talk directly with him through me, you can schedule a private session by calling 360-894-5000.
