By combining holistic medicine with chemotherapy, it reduces the side effects of chemotherapy and improves your pet's quality of life. It is a more natural way of dealing with the toxic side effects associated with chemotherapy.
In doing so, we may incorporate a high protein low carbohydrate diet, omega 3 fatty acids, Chinese Herbs, probiotics, individualized organ support, oral antioxidants including Poly-MVA, IV Vitamin C therapy, and a detoxification regimen.
Dr. Danoff considers a supplement, called Poly-MVA, one of her "big guns". Poly-MVA is a combination of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids including alpha-lipoic acid, Vitamins B1, B2 and B12, Formylmethionine, Acetyl Cystiene, and trace amounts of Molybdinum, Rhodium, and Ruthenium. This combination is designed to support cellular energy production and promote overall health.
Poly-MVA also helps to replace nutrients that may be depleted during cancer treatment. Poly-MVA's uniqueness stems from its lipoic acid palladium complexes (LAPd). It is this complex that allows for better cellular absorption, as compared to the over the counter lipoic acid.
We have seen Poly-MVA significantly reduce the rate of cancer growth, improve and maintain quality of life, improve appetite, reduce side effects of chemo, and eliminate grey hair! Dr. Danoff's dog, Charles, lost all the grey hair between his pads and the grey on his muzzle was reduced by about 75%. It was truly amazing. Needless to say, Dr. Danoff now takes Poly- MVA herself!
Poly-MVA comes in a liquid form. It can be administered via a syringe (and can be diluted with a broth), put into food (for the Labs out there and other very good eaters), or put into empty gel capsules and quickly administered (as the caps quickly melt). Some practitioners are now even using Poly-MVA IV for more powerful effects.
The oral dose we recommend depends upon what we are treating, the size of the animal, its response to therapy, etc. We also use Poly-MVA to treat viral infections in cats (FIV and FeLV) and have had great success. We also use it to treat chronic and recurrent infections and for overall immune support (in both young and geriatric animals).
About Cancer:
Cancer is a common condition diagnosed in companion animals. Unfortunately, the cause of cancer is typically not known. It may be caused by environmental and dietary toxins, overall poor nutrition, viruses, etc. Cancer does not discriminate and can be found in both young and old animals. Some forms of cancer can be eliminated from the body through surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, or a combination of treatments. These treatments, although beneficial at times, can have significant effects on the immune system and quality of life.
Each type of cancer responds differently to treatment. To get a better understanding of your pet's condition, we typically recommend having an evaluation with a board certified oncologist. This does not necessarily mean you need to take a traditional approach to cancer. However, we feel it is always best to make your decision after having been presented with all the facts. We are available to assist you with making these decisions, and will take into account your personal goals and philosophical beliefs. Our primary goal is always to keep your pet happy and maintain quality of life. Dr. Danoff recently lost her dog, Charles, to thymic lymphoma. She elected to use chemotherapy, diet, nutritional supplementation, spiritual support, lots of laughter and fun, and of course, lots of LOVE! We must never forget the power of love and its wonderful effects on the body.
