When out on the trails, whether you ride with large groups or on your own, use this simple color code to indicate horse and rider status to fellow riders on the trail. All you need to do is tie a ribbon of specific color into your horse’s tail:
Red = kicker
Yellow = stallion
Green = inexperienced horse and/or rider
White = vision impaired horse and/or rider
You may understand each horse and rider’s ability in your own group, but when you get out on populated trails or join other groups, this simple color code is helpful. Other riders understand who is on the trail with them and are available for assistance should the need arise. The easily-recognized color code is an added safety precaution so everyone on the trail enjoys their ride.
