As the nation's schools, libraries, government agencies, universities and corporations prepare to celebrate Women’s History Month this March, published authors who are members of the National Women Veterans Speakers Bureau are elevating their unique voices as women veterans, sharing leadership experiences through motivational speaking engagements and literature. One of those veterans is author and horsewoman Valerie Ormond, whose military-themed horse books have won Gold Medals from the Military Writers Society of America and inspired readers globally. Ms. Ormond is a retired as a naval intelligence officer and a writer. She authored the award-winning young adult fiction novels “Believing In Horses,” and “Believing In Horses, Too,” both highlighting military families and volunteerism. Ormond is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Veteran Writing Services, LLC, providing professional writing and consulting services to companies to help them achieve business goals. She is also a charter member of the National Women Veterans Speakers Bureau and numerous equine and veterans organizations.
