Springfield, IL - The 26th Annual Illinois Horse Fair, professionally produced by The Horsemen’s Council of Illinois (HCI), will take place March 6 – 8 at the State Fairgrounds in historic Springfield. The event brings thousands of people to the Capitol city to celebrate the family-oriented equestrian lifestyle through education and entertainment.
Headlining the production is internationally known horseman, Richard Winters. With a focus on helping the horse maximize his natural abilities and performance, Winters will entertain while educating the Fair goers.
“Richard Winters is someone who can take any equestrian, whether hobbyist or professional, and improve their skill set and relationship with their horse,” said Ronald Rhoades, Vice President of HCI and Committee Chairman of the Fair. “We are fortunate to have him at our regional event.”
Joining Winters are acclaimed clinicians Jennifer Kotylo, Gary Lane, Ellen Baehr, Smith Lilly, Curt and Polly Hagey, Clint Boyer, Terry Myers and Tracy Porter and TJ Clibborn. Along with experts demonstrating a variety of different equestrian styles, the Fair will bring back the Fan Favorites: the acclaimed Heartland Horseman’s Challenge, Stallion Row, Bred and Sport Demo’s, unrivaled indoor and outdoor shopping bazaar and fabulous food of all kinds.
New this year is the Artisans venue, inaugural Liberty competition, Stockdog clinics by Serendipity Stockdog School and VIP catered dinner prior to the Wooten Rodeo Company headlining the Friday and Saturday evening entertainment.
“Twenty-seven years ago, a bunch of like-minded horse people decided to throw a party to celebrate and share the blessings of the equestrian life,” said Rhoades. “I’m honored to help carry on that tradition.”
