Tamara Lenherr, Woofs n Hoofs
Woofs ‘n Hoofs – Go natural...naturally! Have you noticed that many human illnesses like allergies, diabetes and obesity, unheard of in the wild, are common today in our pets’ lives? What could lead to these illnesses, besides captivity? Consider the obvious: nutrition.
Tamara Lenherr, founder and owner of Woofs ‘n Hoofs, a new animal supply store in Littleton, Colorado, strongly believes that going back to the basic nutrition of each species can eventually resolve most health issues in our furry friends. Tamara grew up in Switzerland with organic, natural, homemade meals every day. Her four-legged companions were kept very naturally. There was never an IR horse or an allergic dog in her family, or even in the whole village.
“Wild horses graze 18 hours daily and move around 20 miles a day,” says Tamara. “Do we think feeding our horses a hay grass mixture twice a day and keeping them in a little confined area will even come close to what they are supposed to have every day, mentally and physically? A wild dog/cat eats a rabbit one day, then a mouse, another time a bird. After all, dogs and cats are still carnivores. How come we think a processed kibble filled with grains and chemicals over years could even match what their bodies really crave?”
Woofs ‘n Hoofs understands that circumstances and lifestyles preclude going to the extreme of imitating a 100% natural nutritional environment for our pets. However, the company has found several products that come close to a very natural nutritional approach. From top-notch kibbles and exclusive proteins from all over the world to dehydrated food and 100% raw meat, Woofs ‘n Hoofs offers a huge selection of all kinds of natural foods.
“The success we have seen so far in our customers’ horses, dogs and cats is outstanding and so rewarding,” says Sibylle Simmons, manager of Woofs ‘n Hoofs and a vet tech of 17 years. “It’s so great to be able to help out and find natural solutions that take care of the cause instead of just medicating away the symptoms for the short-term.”
Woofs ‘n Hoofs is constantly organizing fun, exciting and educational events: Horseless horse clinics, Cat training, Anesthesia-free teeth cleaning, Barefoot trimming clinics. The company also sponsors a Cat Room for the Cat Care Society, hoping rescue cats will find a forever home. Check out their profiles here.
