Thank you to everyone who participated in our Reader Interest Survey and who voted in our recent Polls. We’re always interested in what members of our Holistic Community have to say!
READER INTEREST SURVEY RESULTS:
1. Which alternative therapy(ies) do you incorporate into your horse care?
Chiropractic, massage and herbs top the list (~63% of respondents) with homeopathy, communication and acupressure not far behind (~44%).
Selected comments:
“I use chiro, acupuncture and laser therapy via a veterinarian when I have an animal that conventional medicine has failed on....”
“Many alternative therapies are either unavailable in my area, or prohibitively expensive.”
“I prefer natural to conventional as it is kinder to the system.”
“...would use others if they were readily available in our area.”
2. What type(s) of riding do you enjoy?
Overwhelmingly (86%), trail riding/recreational, with dressage (33%) a distant second.
Interesting inclusions in the “other” field:
Gaming/mounted shooting
Obstacle course
Equisoccer
Trick training
3. Please rank these areas of interest:
Respondents were all over the map on this one, attempting to rank 10 topics in order of preference. Holistic Veterinary takes the top spot followed by Nutrition and Training Tips. At the bottom of the rankings are Book Reviews and Feedback from Other Readers (hmmmm, guess that means there’s limited interest in these survey results?)
Encouraging comments:
“....too hard to rank, I like them all!”
“I’d like to rank several at the same number...”
“...some items I was forced to mark lower than I wanted to.”
“...equally important so can’t use your numbering system...”
4. Please indicate your familiarity with www.HolisticHorse.com
About half (51%) visit our website monthly, with 35% checking in weekly.
Selected Comments:
“I prefer magazines to websites.”
“Great site!”
“Usually click through from the e-newsletter.”
“Didn’t know it existed until today!”
5. Finally, please share your equine product purchasing habits:
Most (62%) stock up by visiting local tack/feed stores, with about that same number (58%) also buying on-line. We’re encouraged to learn that more than half (58%) of the survey-takers have investigated products after reading an article in the magazine, and a promising percentage (47%) have pursued products after seeing an ad in Holistic Horse.
Selected Comments:
“...prefer to spend locally as much as I am able.”
“I carry products seen in Holistic Horse in my small shop.”
“I do buy from the local tack/feed store but not as much as on-line/catalogs.”
“I will buy on-line if it is a product that no one in my area carries.”
