Strike A Long Trot – Legendary Horsewoman Linda Tellington-Jones , spans forty-five years over the pages that give readers insight to the details of Linda’s fascinating life and equestrian career.
Beginning with Linda’s early family life and her marriage to U.S. Cavalry officer, Wentworth Tellington, together the pair founded the unique Pacific Coast Equestrian Research Farm and School of Horsemanship in California, a learning center beyond compare.
Through over 240 photographs coupled with animated text, Weil provides a PCERF student’s perspective of the school, as well as eyewitness accounts of Linda’s heroic competitions.
Linda’s early desire to be a riding instructor evolved into becoming a force in the fledgling sport of endurance riding. By winning the 1961 Jim Shoulder’s 100-Mile Ride in Oklahoma on her Arabian mare Bint Gulida, she attracted the attention of a wealthy Hungarian countess who chose Linda to train her stunning Hungarian horses. Once known as Europe’s finest warhorses, Linda excelled at competing with the Hungarian horses in endurance riding including the Tevis Cup 100-Mile Ride, three-day eventing and steeplechase racing at Pebble Beach.
Decades of hard-earned experiences culminated into a solid foundation that gave life to the Tellington TTouch Training Method that Linda still today teaches worldwide.
“Weil uses many interviews with Linda to weave a fascinating story of a dedicated horsewoman whose impact has been felt across the horse industry.” Susan Morrison – Western Horseman magazine.
“It’s one of those books where you are mad when the phone rings because you don’t want to stop reading to answer the phone,” Wendy Averill writes from Los Angeles, California.
A traveler writes, “I just finished reading your book and was totally impressed. For me it was hard to turn off my tablet and head out to see the scenery in this beautiful country of Italy. Your book had my attention from the first page.? Thanks for writing a great book.”
