My definition of connection in the saddle is when I can't tell when my body ends and my horses body begins for me in the saddle.
I want my horse to be an extension of my body, almost like my feet and I also like to be able to think something and my horse does it.
It's as if we're in harmony and unity.
I play around a lot at Liberty, and I really feel that connection when I can send energy and draw energy and my horse is just right there with me.
Fluidity through and through, backwards, forwards, left, right, circling, raising their body into collection and relaxing into stretching.
I use Liberty to find connection through the ability to move a horse's feet and ask a horse to draw back to me.
I am always asking that horse to find me and to connect with me through the allowing of them to move their feet and the offering of them to join with me very much the way they join with other horses in the herd.
My name is Julie.
I am the founder of Aiken Horsemanship Academy.
I live in Aiken SC and I also am the founder of the Horsemanship Academy, which is an online resource for riders of all levels in all disciplines.
