For 70 years, Rodale Institute has been researching the best practices of organic agriculture and sharing its findings with farmers and scientists throughout the world. Rodale Institute advocates for policies that support farmers and educate consumers about how going organic is the healthiest option for people and the planet.
Boiron USA is honored to partner with Rodale Institute on the perpetuation of a medicinal garden designed to exhibit plants that are used in homeopathic medicines. While a majority of the garden is comprised of medicinal herbs, the garden’s centerpiece features herbs that can be used for both medicinal and culinary purposes, such as rosemary and basil-tulsi. Other plants featured include Calendula, Arnica chamissonis, also known as American arnica, Chelidonium majus (greater celadine), Chamomilla (chamomile) and Hypericum perforatum (St. John’s wort).
Calendula
Calendula has been applied locally for centuries as a natural healing and soothing substance. Homeopathic preparations of the flower have been used for generations to help speed the healing process, attributed to the presence of essential oils, saponins, flavonoids and alkaloids. Calendula has also been used as a traditional ingredient in Mediterranean cooking, Middle Eastern dishes, and German stews.
Rosemary

Andrea Baldwin
Homeopathic rosemary (Ruta graveolens) is used to help relieve indigestion accompanied with headaches, and also to relieve early, profuse and painful periods. In herbal form, rosemary was used to improve memory, stimulate hair growth, and relieve muscle pain. It is used today as an antioxidant and to relieve indigestion.
American Arnica

Andrea Baldwin
Arnica may be applied topically as a gel or cream for treating muscle pain, stiffness, swelling, and bruising from minor injuries, but is not to be used on open wounds or broken skin. Arnica is also available in tablet and pellet form from some homeopathic medicine manufacturers.
