(April 28, 2022) New York, NY – StreamHorseTV is pleased to formally announce the mini-documentary series Retraining Goals, in partnership with the Retired Racehorse Project.
The “Retraining Goals” series brings viewers along for the ride, following the journeys of retired racehorses into second careers. In this recurring series, presented by the Retired Racehorse Project, we go in-depth and behind-the-scenes with horse and rider combinations during their training, sharing in their challenges and triumphs along the way! Learn and grow with these horses and riders as they tackle new chapters in various disciplines. The Retraining Goals series will be available digitally on StreamHorseTV’s website and YouTube channel, as well as RRP’s Facebook group and social media channels.
Season 1 follows Kaitlin and her New Vocations adoptee Charles through the first year of their partnership together. In the latest episode, Kaitlin reflects on what she and her "Blame Baby" have learned as they celebrate their one-year anniversary. Charles competes in his third show, moving up a level in the hunters. Tune in to find out how they did, and what exercises have helped Charles improve his balance between the jumps. Kaitlin gives her advice on how to get through the blood, sweat, and tears, especially when training isn’t going the way you want, or lameness sets in unexpectedly. How does Charles like his new life and how will he do at his upcoming shows in 2022? Find out on Retraining Goals! Catch all of Kaitlin and Charles’ episodes here.
Season 2 welcomes special guest Jordan, who has not only one, but two new projects, Lanse and Barry, competing in various jumping disciplines. Jordan has impressively brought “the boys” far along in a short span of months, getting Barry to his first competition with only a handful of rides under their belt. But how can she figure out which career suits each of her charges best, and whether or not she’s willing to sell? Find out how Jordan landed these two high-class, regally bred athletes and see their transformation unfold! Watch Part 1 of their journey here.
And don’t miss fan favorite and Eclipse Sprint Champion Whitmore, a workhorse-type “people’s champion” who raced until 8 years old, earning nearly $5 million and appearing in a record four consecutive Breeders’ Cup Sprint Editions, as he sets his sights on Makeover 2022 with long-time exercise rider Laura Moquett in the saddle. Whitmore was a pill to train on the racetrack, and anything he does has to be his own idea. Laura knows Whitmore like the back of her hand, but wonders how he will respond when asked to perform new tasks. On the racetrack, he drove his humans often to their “Whit’s end.” Whitmore has already given us invaluable lessons of patience and perseverance; what can we learn from him next? Read/watch our feature on his retirement here, where his team offers insight into how they plan ahead for their horses’ futures, and catch Part 1 of Whitmore’s “Retraining Goals” appearance here!
“We’re excited to partner with StreamHorseTV to present Retraining Goals,” said Kristen Kovatch Bentley, RRP communications manager. “Our goals at the RRP are to educate, empower and inspire more equestrians to encourage them to ride Thoroughbreds, and StreamHorseTV has been a key partner in helping us expand to new audiences.”
StreamHorseTV is thrilled to be partnering with the Retired Racehorse Project, a 501(c)3 organization leading a market-based approach to Thoroughbred aftercare. Additionally, our parallel support for ASPCA’s equine adoption program, The Right Horse Initiative, which is the main sponsor for RRP’s Makeover, strengthens our mutual missions and equine charitable efforts.
