In Argentina, The Experiment in International Living offers a plethora of outdoor activities for high school students in their summer abroad program, including riding horses with gauchos through the Chicoana mountains.
With more than 85 years of experience in international education through cultural immersion and experiential learning, The Experiment is the flagship program of World Learning, a global non-profit organization with education, sustainable development, and exchange programs with impact in 150 countries. Students travel in small and diverse groups of up to 16 participants that are led by two carefully selected and trained adult group leaders with additional support from local staff and international partners. The network of support creates a safe, student-centered learning approach while abroad.
La Cabalgata, or literally "the ride" in English, is what high school students will experience on wonderful Argentine horses. La Cabalgata will take students on a two day journey through the mountains, where they will get to know their horses, fellow Experimenters, their group leaders, and thegaucho guides.
Students will camp outside and enjoy an asado, a traditional barbeque, and soak in the extraordinary views during their visit.
But riding is just one part of the experience, which also includes time in Buenos Aires, language lessons, a homestay with a local family in Jujuy, whitewater rafting, a community service project, visiting the famous Salinas Grandes salt flats, and more.
The Experiment provides authentic cultural experiences that offer a unique, safe, and educational way to see the world.
