Colic is one of the most common emergency veterinary calls in horses, and the AAEP estimates that over 700,000 horses will colic this year in the United States. “There are many factors that can increase a horse’s risk for colic,” said Dr. Lydia Gray, SmartPak’s Staff Veterinarian, and Medical Director. “While no one can prevent colic one hundred percent, there are steps you can take to help support your horse’s digestive health, in turn reducing their risk.”
